PANJIM: The Arambol Beach carnival on Thursday, the day Russia invaded Ukraine sent out a strong message to the world revellers to “Make Peace and Love, Not War”.

Locals, domestic and foreign tourists joined hands to celebrate the beach carnival, the theme being, “Bee Wise and Stop Pesticides”, but messages of peace dominated. The colourful carnival procession was taken along the coast with revellers dancing to the beats of drums accompanied by the music.

The event organiser Zou Zou said, “The use of pesticides leads to drastic reduction in the population of the pollinators, bees and the other insects. Bee being an important part of the ecosystem needs to be saved. We are taking a step forward by using our art to spread awareness about the same.”

“We are been organising this event for many years. For the last two years, the beach carnival was halted due to COVID-19 pandemic. This year we are fortunate enough to organise upon receiving the permission from Goa Tourism Development Corporation Limited (GTDC) for the first time,” added Zou Zou.
