A High Sensitivity Cooled Camera Loaded with Qualities!

The ZWO ASI585MC Pro camera was crafted to deliver high sensitivity for deep space and planetary objects alike. The low readout noise paired with the high QE value brings out beautiful detail on near limitless targets such as the cloud bands on Jupiter, the rings on Saturn, and DSOs such as the Orion Nebula and the Whirlpool Galaxy! With features such as a fast frame rate, small pixel size, and the ability to image in 4K resolution, the ZWO ASI585MC Pro is a must have for your astronomy toolkit!

Equipped with a Sony IMX585 backlit sensor, enjoy capturing stunning images with its 8.29 megapixels. The large full well capacity of 40Ke offers a wide range of signal collection for highly detailed images, and the built in cooling technology brings the temperature down to 35 degrees below ambient for cleaner, less noisy images. A memory buffer has been integrated within this camera to speed up transfer time, and a reliable USB 3.0 comes standard on this camera for optimal data collection. These features, in addition to many more, make for a camera that’s sure to elevate your astrophotography experience.

A High Performance, Professional Camera for Astrophotography

Let's Dig into the Data!

What sets one astrophotography camera apart from another? How is performance measured? Camera and sensor manufacturers provide certain interconnected specifications that give insight into the performance of a camera. These measurements include quantum efficiency, read noise, full well depth, gain, and dynamic range. While the graphs provided by the manufacturer may be confusing or intimidating, don't fret! Our team has put together a breakdown of these complicated topics to help you make sense of them. Take a look at the article here: Understanding ZWO Camera Charts and Graphs, and feel more confident making the right choice for your astrophotography needs!

Sony IMX585 Sensor
The ASI585MC Pro is assembled with the Sony IMX585 sensor and offers a resolution of 3840x2160. With these 8.29 megapixels and small sensor size of 2.9um, resolve intricate structures on a wide range of targets! The exceptional peak QE of 91% shows just how efficient this sensor is at converting captured photons into usable signal. This boosts the signal to noise ratio, and with a low readout noise of 0.7e, the images taken are sure to impress. Also, the 40Ke full well capacity provides rich color gradients to hone in on the details.

Electronic Highlights
The ASI585MC Pro was crafted with key inner workings to elevate your astrophotography even more. This Sony sensor features a backlit design, meaning its wires and transistors are fitted behind the sensor itself as opposed to in front, something typically seen in other CMOS cameras. An absence of obstructions allows more photons to hit the sensor and be converted into signal, increasing SNR values and maximizing image quality. Not only this, but the integrated TEC cooling system cools your camera to as low as 35 degrees below ambient temperature. The cooler your camera, the less heat noise is generated, and images become much sharper and cleaner! In order to reduce buffer time and preserve the captured frames, ZWO has assembled this ASI585MC Pro with an internal 512MB DDR3 memory cache. This addition allows for speedy and safe image transfer rates, even at the max frame rate of 47FPS!

Power and Ports
A DC 12V power adapter is needed to ensure your camera is fully powered for a night of astrophotography. We recommend the Apertura Universal 5 Amp AC Adapter to get the job done! On the back of this ASI585MC Pro, you’ll find a total of three USB ports. The USB 3.0 has a rated 5Gb bandwidth, making it perfect for quick and reliable image transmission to your computer. Also, the two USB 2.0 ports allow the attachment of additional accessories, such as an electronic focuser or guide camera! To get you ready for your next astrophotography session, this ASI585MC Pro comes standard with one USB 3.0 cord and two USB 2.0 cables.

Everything Needed for Proper Backfocus Spacing
Understanding the headache of trying to find the perfect backfocus, ZWO has supplied the correct spacers and adapters for the industry standard of 55mm of backfocus! Also, this ample selection of adapters available allows you to easily swap accessories in and out of your imaging train, such as the ZWO OAG or ZWO Filter Drawer. Thanks to ZWO, attaching the ASI585MC Pro to your telescope is a breeze!
