Aayla Secura
Full Name | Aayla Secura |
Home World | Ryloth |
Affiliation | Jedi Order Galactic Republic |
Species | Twi'lek |
Master(s) | Quinlan Vos |
Aayla Secura was one of the rare characters to debut in the now-defunct Expanded Universe (known as Legends since Disney's acquisition of the Star Wars franchise) then later appear in a film. Born on Ryloth, Secura would die on Felucia, one of many Jedi killed during Order 66. She was trained as a Jedi by Quinlan Vos, achieving the rank of Jedi Knight.
Biography
Much of Secura's life prior to the Clone Wars is unknown. However, she was one of the Jedi sent to Geonosis to rescue the captured Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, and Padmé Amidala, a mission that would mark the beginning of the Clone Wars. During the Clone Wars, she would work closely with Clone Commander Bly. Bly and his troops would later kill Secura when Order 66 was given by Supreme Chancellor Palpatine.
Description
Aayla Secura is probably best known to audiences for her appearance. A Twi'lek who chose to wear lightweight attire appropriate for missions in all environments, Secura's striking beauty stood out. This was not intentional, however. Her choice of attire was strictly practical, though she was known to wear small ornate jewelry, such as a naval covering, from time to time.
She was also quite wise and devoted to the Order. Secura would pass on her knowledge and wisdom to others when the opportunity arose, a notable example being Anakin Skywalker's Padawan Ahsoka Tano.
Appearances
Legends
Secura studied both Form IV: Ataru and Form V: Shien lightsaber combat. She also studied the dual-wielding Jar'Kai style.
She was once seduced to the dark side by the Dark Jedi Volfe Karkko. After facing off with her master Quinlan Vos, Secura would snap out of the trancelike state, later seeking counsel with Grand Master Yoda.
Secura was also granted the rank of Jedi Master at some point during the Clone Wars, and would go on to fight General Grievous alongside Daakman Barrek, Ki-Adi Mundi, Shaak Ti, and K'Kruhk, a fight she would only just survive.
