Handsome Woollywort - Trichocolea tomentella

As a lover of liverworts, Trichocolea tomentella was on the list to find and observe.

This week, I was finally able to find a very small population of this liverwort growing at one of the local state parks close by. This little liverwort would be very easy to miss if you weren't specifically looking for it.
This little leafy liverwort usually grows along streams and seepages over wet rocks in shaded places. I was able to observe this liverwort growing among other bryophytes.

Per NatureServe, in Tennessee, Trichocolea tomentella is listed as an S3 species (Vulnerable).

Observing these liverworts and lichens makes me want to study them more. Both of these subjects are not well-studied, especially the lichens. Does anyone know any good books on lichens and their biology?
