As much as we love a good hair trend, we can't deny the staying power of shoulder-length haircuts. Medium-length hair that hits below the chin but not further than the collarbone is possibly the most versatile. The best part? It pretty much looks good on everyone.

However, if you want to spice it up and customize your new cut, you've come to the right place. We spoke with celebrity stylists Aaron Grenia, Clyde Elezi, and Stephen Thevenot to figure out what shoulder-length cut is most flattering for each face shape.

Chin-length hairstyles like this wet-look style on Jennifer Lopez are great if you have a diamond-shaped face as they help to soften the sharp angles, noted Grenia.

Interested in bangs? "Curtain bangs balance a diamond-shaped face by elongating the face and widening the forehead," sid Elezi.

"With an oval face shape, the world is your oyster," said Thevenot.

Go for a shag, bob, or lob — whatever your heart desires. Feeling a bit daring and edgy? Try a blunt lob all the same length and parted down the center, like Kim Kardashian rocks here.

Both Elezi and Thevenot agree: Shoulder length or a tad bit longer is the most flattering for this face shape. According to Grenia, this slightly longer style will elongate the face.

If you have a round face, Thevenot suggested adding a side-swept bang and soft layers.

"Adding a side-swept bang helps add structure with softness on the ends, cutting some of the roundness out," he explained.

Square-Shaped Face: Tousled and Textured

If you have a square-shaped face, a soft and tousled 'do will suit you well as it adds texture and softness, suggested Thevenot. Elezi recommended a face-framing look and a middle part to accentuate your cheekbones à la Jennifer Aniston. With this face shape, consider avoiding blunt lines that over-accentuate hard angles, noted Grenia.

If you have an inverted triangular-shaped face like Laura Harrier, work to create facial balance.

"[Aim] for a cut that builds weight around the jawline will help to widen the look at the jawline while still highlighting the cheekbones," said Grenia.

If you have a heart-shaped face, a shoulder-length haircut can emphasize the cheekbones, Elezi told us. Elezi and Thevenot recommended soft layers towards the bottom or even long, side-swept bangs to give your hair some width.

"Creating a fuller bottom gives a heart-shaped face a more balanced appearance," said Thevenot.

Grenia added that a longer bob on a heart-shaped face also keeps the hair length from making the chin appear more pronounced.
