How to get to Naples
The most common ways to travel to Naples are flying or taking the train, although many arrive by cruise ship too. Discover the best way for you to get to southern Italy!
Planes
Naples' international airport, the Aeroporto di Napoli-Capodichino (NAP), is located less than 4 miles (6 km) northeast of the city centre. It has just one terminal for commercial flights - so no getting lost! - and welcomes around a million passengers each year.
With the increase in low-cost airlines over the years, it has become cheaper to fly to Naples, and with the airport so well-connected to the historic centre, flying is one of the easiest ways to get here. Ryanair, easyJet and TUI Airways connect Naples to many UK cities, alongside many others.
If you're flying from further afield, you'll likely have to make a stop in a bigger European airport en route, but economical deals can be found!

Cruises
Many travellers visit Naples by boat: a number of Mediterranean cruises include the city on their routes, and its large, centrally-located port mean that visitors can get around on foot from the terminal easily and comfortably.

Trains
If you prefer a slower and more environmentally friendly pace of travel, exploring Italy by train allows for beautiful views and no luggage restrictions! There are a number of different train stations in the city, but the main one is Napoli Centrale, better known as the Piazza Garibaldi Station.
Travelling from Rome by train, Naples can be reached in a little over an hour on the high-speed FrecciaRossa trains, which cost € 35 (US$ 37.50) each way. Alternatively, the regional trains take around three hours but cost a more economical € 12 (US$ 12.90).

Cars
For those who enjoy driving and are planning to visit Naples from another Italian city, hiring a car is an alternative option. Do bear in mind that many of Italy's roads are toll roads, so that should be calculated into your budget for the trip!
