Cut to April 2020.
I found myself, like many others, furloughed from my job due to a new and mysterious thing called Covid-19. I also found myself with a lot of time on my hands. I started taking walks. So many walks. And while I was discovering my neighborhood, I also discovered podcasts. I listened to the "A-List" by Tom Christmann on autoplay. It hosted the origin stories of some of the biggest names in advertising. I was obsessed. I listened to every episode, gobbling up the unlikely backgrounds and human interest stories. Then, one day, I ran out of episodes. Poof. The voice in my head was gone.
Until it reemerged.
This time, in my inbox.
Cut to December 2023.
Tom reached out for his newest podcast, "Lost In Found." He said he found the "Pyle of Memories" book inspirational and asked if I'd go on his show to discuss the power of connecting humans, not just with each other, but with content that matters.
I accepted.
Reluctantly.
I told him that I'm more comfortable as a behind-the-scenes person. He assured me I'd be fine.
I didn't believe him.
Cut to May 2024.
The episode aired. I was terrified to listen. But the voice in my head was right. Not my voice. Tom's. Mine kept saying not to push play. But I'm so glad I didn't listen to inner me and, instead, I listened to 45 minutes of out-of-body me. That's exactly what it felt like. Out-of-body. In-a-good-way. Tom's so good at making people comfortable that I think it shows. Talk about the power of human connection.
And, speaking of humans, I mentioned a few of you, from all walks of my life too.
