Ever experienced a full #circle moment? I just did on having a great honour to revisit my undergraduate college - KBH’s MGV Dental College and Hospital in Nashik. My #BDS journey began from this temple. As part of the MGV’s Mentorship Congress in a leanest way possible, I delivered a talk on “Global Oral Health: An Insight and Opportunities”. Thankful to college’s current interns, second year students and beloved faculty to attend the whole session and relate to my experiences enthusiastically. The four main takeaways from my discussion were: 1. #Prevention is better than cure. #Oral diseases are largely Preventable Diseases. 2. Think outside the box. 3. Dentists are primely required in #India more so in the remote areas following the global picture. 4. Educate patients on every opportunity about common risk factors to prevent threat from many #NCDs including oral diseases. There is a huge wisdom gained and a long way to go to bring Oral Health for All. It’s after all a team work and best learned from my mentors at the Indian Dental Association. This special day was all possible because of the ever motivating faculty back home at MGV. Thank you Dr Meenakshi Sreeram Ma’am, Principal Dr Meenal Gulve Ma’am, faculty Dr Pradeep GL Sir, Dr Bhushan Pustake Sir, and Dr Amit Agrawal Sir. #oralhealth #globaloralhealth #oralhealthforall #dentistry #bds #alumni #lecture #prevention #commonriskfactors #2023vision

Contribution of non-medical faculty with Msc and PhDs was immense during Covid pandemic. At that time ,if only Doctor's were asked to come on duty, would it have been fine? Not just faculties ,but support staff including Housekeeping did a yeoman service to keep covid deaths under control and keep increasing recovery rate of patients. Discrimination in medical field destroys this superb blended fabric of medical and non-medical staff. Any attempt to harass non-medicals will make life very difficult for administrators. Hope better sense prevails and non-medical post-graduate or PhD faculties are treated at the same level like medical ones ,with respect to salary ,benefits and career growth. After all,it's the question of education of young doctors and well being of patients. Milind G Kulkarni , Msc medical microbiology , Sri Swami NABL and NABH Consultancy, Bangalore Hyderabad.
