In day 6, I have learned about Annotations which is 10 days learning. Contest by Navin Reddy In Java, we use @ represent the annotations.In Java programming we use Annotations for code readability, maintainability, and performance. These metadata elements provide essential information about the code to the compiler, runtime, or other tools, enabling developers to leverage them for various purposes. In this article, we will dive deep into the world of Java annotations, exploring their significance, types, and best practices for their effective usage which is learned from Telusko


1. Built-in Annotations:

Java provides a set of built-in annotations that serve different purposes. Some notable ones include:

- @Override: Indicates that a method overrides a superclass method.

- @Deprecated: Marks a code element as deprecated, signaling that it should no longer be used.

- @SuppressWarnings: Suppresses compiler warnings for specific code segments.

- @FunctionalInterface: Specifies that an interface is a functional interface, allowing it to be used with lambda expressions.


2. Custom Annotations:

Developers can define their own custom annotations to address specific requirements. Custom annotations can be used to provide additional information to frameworks, tools, or other developers. Defining a custom annotation involves using the @interface keyword. Custom annotations can also include elements that can accept values, allowing for greater flexibility and customization.

This is interface of custom annotations. Here we need to give target and retention.

-The @Target gives information about for which we gone use this annotation. For example: @Target(ElementType.Field). Now this works only on fields.

-The @Retention annotation indicates how long an annotation should be retained. It specifies the retention policy for the annotation.
