The hazards of being at the Front Desk..........

The hazards of being at the Front Desk..........

It is usually the front desk that bears the brunt of a guest’s anger over any issue, including those not related to their own department.

The Front Desk calls Housekeeping about a guest.

Front Desk : “The guest in room 201 came down to say that there is a major problem with his room.

The geyser is not working. Bath water is running cold in two minutes.

The bed linen has burn marks.

The glasses are streaked, says he held them against the light to check !!.

Even the coffee cups are greasy to touch.

The bottles in the mini bar are half empty.

He called the housekeeping and they put him on hold !!

You’d better go over to see him now. He sounds very, very angry.

Spent half an hour screaming at me.”

Housekeeping : “Okay, no problem. I’ll go see him now.”

The H/K executive heads over to the guest’s room, rings the bell and waits for him to answer.

The guest opens the door and sees him standing there.

Housekeeping: “Good afternoon, Sir. I am from the Housekeeping Department.

I understand that you have a problem with your room. How may I resolve it for you?”

Guest: “That was quick. Well, I just yelled at the girl at the front desk for half an hour. Now I’m not upset anymore. I don’t need anything now. Thanks for coming by.”

The guest closes the door.

The front desk is truly the heartbeat of any hotel.
