JASON DONOVAN: 'ROLE OF MY LIFE'

Australian actor Jason Donovan will celebrate his 55th birthday in June, but for many of us, he’ll always hold a special place in our hearts as a late-’80s teen heartthrob, who sang a string of hits including ‘Too Many Broken Hearts’, and as the ultimate boy next door, Scott Robinson, in Neighbours. Of course, Donovan, now a happily married dad of three, has achieved so much more during his long career. He’s currently back in Australia to appear in a new production of The Rocky Horror Show, but made time for an exclusive chat with WHO...

Welcome back to Oz, is this a permanent move home for you?
This season of The Rocky Horror Show is currently in Sydney, then I’m heading back to London for a couple of gigs. I come back to Melbourne in the winter for a couple of months for more Rocky Horror shows. So it’s not a permanent move!

You’re happy to be back for now, right?
God, I’m so happy to be back! I’m enjoying myself, catching up with a lot of people I haven’t seen in a while. It feels right. Also, it’s really lovely to be part of a show like Rocky Horror. Work that is authentic. Sometimes it doesn’t always work, but I think I’m winning this one, in this role, a little bit.
