UFC 209 live blog: Alistair Overeem vs. Mark Hunt

This is the UFC 209 live blog for Alistair Overeem vs. Mark Hunt, a heavyweight bout at Saturday night's UFC event at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Overeem, who has won four of his past five fights, will face Hunt, who is 2-2 with 1 no-contest over his past five fights, on the main card.

Round 1: Kicking off the main card, a heavyweight rematch from 2008. Referee is Marc Goodard. They touch gloves. Leg kick right off the bat from Hunt, loud. And another. He comes in again, and Overeem comes over tip with right hand. There's a big cut on Hunt's leg pouring blood, from a checked kick. Wow. Right hand from Overeem, and that glances Hunt. Oblique kick from Overeem, an Albuquerque specialty. Hunt comes in to throw, loses momentum and bulls into Overeem. Weird sequence. Big body kick from Hunt, and that hurt. They clinch, and they Hunt shoves Overeem off. Short right counter from Overeem was a stinger, lands nice. Hunt unfazed. Nice right counter from Hunt knocks Overeem off balance, and he reels back on his heels. Very deliverate stuff from both guys, and so far Hunt landing better/heavier. Overeem with a kick to the body, and then a feint of the same. Another big body kick from Hunt, and the crowd loves that. Combo from Overeem and he is attacking the lead leg of Hunt. Reem switching stances a lot here, giving Hunt plenty to think about. Hunt trying to keep Hunt close, and now at the end of the round Hunt blasts away at Overeem's body as Overeem covers up. Round 2: Doctors looked at the cut on Hunt's shin between rounds, slapped some Vaseline on it, and he's good to go. Front kick from Overeem, and then a spinning back kick to the body. Nice right hand from Reem! That put Hunt back on his heels a bit, but he comes back with a body kick of his own. Overeem narrowly misses with a high kick, that lands on Hunt's shoulder on the way down. Oblique kick again to the lead leg of Hunt, and Overeem really being methodical. Knees from the clinch from Overeem, now, as they go to the fence. Hunt huffing air a little bit. Reem posting him on the fence, and Goodard invites him to stay busy. Reem trying to get underhooks, and know delivers a knee on the break. Coming out, Hunt counters with a right during a sequence, and now a huge elbow from Hunt staggers Overeem! He's reeling. Hunt covering up, backing to fence. Hunt — very deliberate and poised — looking for his shots. Now Overeem looks recovered, and lands a shot of his own. He presses Hunt to fence, and landing knees from clinch. Overeem keeping the action there, and Hunt lands another elbow which again rocks Overeem! He still leans his entire hulk into Hunt's body, and keeps landing knees. More elbows from Hunt. MMA Fighting scores R2 for Overeem, 10-9 (19-19)

Round 3: Overeem with leg kick. Both guys have been sharp in this fight, and picking their shots. Right hand from Overeem lands, and Hunt stalks forward. Big right hand from Overeem, and an uppercut from Hunt. Hunt comes in and Overeem literally turns tail and runs out of there, much to the dismay of the fans in Vegas. Now he posts Hunt up on fence, and again goes to work softening him up with knees. Left elbow, to knee from Overeem lands, and Overeem is hurt! Another knee, and it's over. Whoa! Explosive end there for Overeem.
