Origin

The Maranta leuconeura family is part of the Marantaceae plant family, named after Bartolomeo Maranta, a 16th-century Italian doctor and botanist.

Characteristics
The Maranta leuconeura 'Exclusive Dark' 6/tray is characterised by predominantly dark leaves, which have a nearly purple hue. The plant has slicked leaves with striking veins, creating a beautiful, almost geometric pattern on the leaves. The plant can grow up to about 30 centimetres high and is a popular houseplant due to its unique colours and shapes. Another unique characteristic of this plant is that it closes its leaves at night, a phenomenon also known as 'nyctinasty'.
