Primeape and its little evolution, Mankey, have been in the Pokémon series since the first set of games, Pokémon Red and Blue. Now with Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, the two will finally get a third evolution: Annihilape. It’s a fighting/ghost Pokémon and puts a spooky twist on the primate’s evolutionary line.

Before you get an Annihilape, you’ll need a Primeape. To find it, walk Southwest of the town Medali and catch one. The one I caught already knew Rage Fist, but I had to change its moves and have it remember the move. Here is the full map of its locations.

To evolve Primeape into Annihilape, you need to use the move Rage Fist 20 times in battle and then level it up.

It’s pretty simple, but make sure you do everything all at once, meaning you don’t go to the Pokémon Center at all between using Rage Fist 20 times and then leveling Primeape afterwards. (I went to the Pokémon Center after using Rage Fist 20 times and then leveled it up and my Primeape didn’t evolve.) This means you’ll want to make sure you start the process with a few Ether to replenish your Rage Fist PP and enough potions to heal your Primeape as you battle to level it up.

The good news is that it’s pretty easy to use Rage Fist 20 times. Your Primeape will still evolve even if you use the move and it has no effect. Rage Fist is a ghost-type move so you can find a low level normal-type Pokémon (Lechonk is a good choice), and use the move 20 times in one battle, and then just level your Primeape up afterwards.
