EU proposes 2023 Atlantic, Kattegat, Skagerrak catch limits

The European Commission has announced a proposal for catch limits for fish stocks in European Union waters of the Atlantic Ocean, Kattegat, and Skagerrak for 2023, and also deep-sea stocks, for 2023 and 2024.

The proposal covers 17 total allowable catches (TACs) for the fisheries operating on stocks managed solely by the E.C. and is based on scientific advice from the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES). The E.C. said the 2023 limits are in line with the objective of maximum sustainable yield (MSY) for eight of the stocks, with an increase in six stocks.
