Youngster rewarded for mature performances this term

Kevin Pezzoni has put pen to paper on a new contract at Bundesliga outfit Cologne. The defensive midfielder will now be tied to the club until the summer of 2013. The Germany U21 international returned to his homeland from Blackburn in January 2008. While he admits that he enjoyed the five years he spent with Rovers' academy, he is delighted to have committed his future to Cologne. "I like Cologne as a city and the club has become very dear to my heart," Pezzoni told Kolnische Rundschau. "Blackburn was a fantastic experience for me in terms of making me a better person, but from a football point of view moving to Cologne has been a wise decision. "I am only 19-years-old and there is still so much for me to learn, but I have already played 14 games in the Bundesliga this season." He added on his partnership with veteran Portuguese midfielder Petit: "I really enjoy playing alongside Petit. "He has played in the Champions League many times in his career and I am trying to learn as much from him as I can."
