Description

Chassis 613911 is one of a pair of 1600 GTA's delivered by Autodelta - the Alfa Romeo factory race preparation company, Autodelta - in February 1967. Its destination was Denmark, via the Autodelta agent there, Soren Tranberg in Kolding. The racer who ordered 613911 was Gunnar Henrikesen, a well known character on the Danish motorsport scene in the 1960s, in both single-seaters and saloons. He would race the car extensively at the Danish national level, before selling onto Peter Madsen, a partner in an automotive workshop called Skallebolle Autoverkstad, in Vissenbjerg Denmark. Madsen would race the car is events akin to modern-day Rallycross, even fitting the car with an aluminium V8 engine - evidenced during restoration, which showed up a heavily modified front bulkhead. In around 1989, the tired old racer was bought by a Swiss hotel owner, and imported to Switzerland. The car was eventually rebuilt and prepared for Appendix K pre-65 racing and the FIA papers were prepared and presented in 2000. Since then the car passed onto a significant European collector and subsequently onto a British racer who had marque experts Alfaholics build him a new engine, exhaust and gearbox. At the same time, Valley Motorsport have developed the car in-line with today's historic racing. In an historic racing scene where cars need to stand out to be selected, chassis 613911 certainly ticks the box. Dramatically liveried in its Danish flag, and rich with period history, it is a perfect ticket into the great historic race meetings and rallies across Europe. The car comes complete with a spare FIA engine and gearbox.
