The Board - Layout

ASRock's Fatal1ty boards have had a similar look for many years now, and the Fatal1ty Z170 GAMING K6+ is no different, although what is new is the I/O tower cover that solidifies the theme in a big way. Front and rear of the board are fairly simple, but that is kind of the point.

The socket area of the Fatal1ty Z170 GAMING K6+ is surrounded by lots of bits and bobs, but nothing that will interfere with most coolers. There are four DIMM slots that support up to 64 GB of memory at speeds in excess of 3866 MHz in total (3866+ requires the use of single-channel mode only).

The ASRock Fatal1ty Z170 GAMING K6+ has three PCIe x1 and three PCIe x16 slots. Being a standard ATX motherboard, there is space for seven slots here, but the space for that seventh slots is occupied by the M.2 port shown above.

The rear I/O panel has six USB 3.0 ports and two USB 3.1 ports, along with the standard audio and LAN ports. A DVI, HDMI, and DisplayPort and a Clear CMOS button and a PS/2 port for either your keyboard or mouse have also been included. SATA connectivity includes support for eight SATA devices; four of these can be combined into dual SATA Express ports of which the USB 3.1 box would occupy one.

The board's bottom edge is occupied by your standard pin headers. There are more than enough for most uses.
