Euphoria star Dominic Fike found his moment in the spotlight as Rue and Jules's friend Elliot in season two of the HBO series. His acting and musical skills gained attention, but so did one of his face tattoos — the unmistakable Apple logo, tattooed just below his eye. While it would make sense to think the tattoo was either an homage to the tech brand or a cheeky satire of said logo's popularity, the meaning behind the tattoo is really sweet.
In a 2019 profile by Complex, which covers Dominic's music career and upbringing in Florida, he shared that the Apple tattoo wasn't done in honor of the brand, but rather as a tribute to his sister Apollonia. According to the profile, the tattoo also "serves as a reminder of what he's working for" — so there's the Apple Inc. connection, assuming that means worldwide success?
Though the story Dominic shared with Complex is undoubtedly sweet, it may not be entirely true. Dominic and his brother Alex (ALX) told i-D in late 2021 that the tattoo in question was done on a whim. According to Alex, he initially had the idea for the tattoo, but his younger brother did it first. "It was so random. Not thought out at all. Same day, I was like, 'I’m going to get this,'" Dominic explained. The impulse worked out to his benefit; it became a signature of his look (and thus, Elliot's). "Respectable girls don’t hate me. I like it. And Apple just sent me the new iPhone, the 13," he shared.
Dominic has a handful of tattoos, including the letters LBE on his forehead, which stands for "Lame Boyz ENT," the name of a music group he was in. Another significant tattoo is the Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante’s face on his right hand since the band was formative to his interest in music. If Elliot returns for season three of the series as Dominic has teased, will we see a few more tats near the Apple? We'll keep our eyes peeled — pun intended.
