Genoa - The Genoese shipyard San Giorgio del Porto began work on the completion of the refit for the SAIPEM 10,000, which is a drilling ship in the SAIPEM fleet and one of the most technologically advanced in the world, which can operate up to 3,000 metres underwater and drill up 10,000 metres in depth. The job order is particularly important because it is the first time that a ship of this type has come to the capital of Liguria for maintenance work. The interventions will concern the ordinary and extraordinary maintenance of the ship, including the upgrade of its automation systems and they represent the conclusive phase of the restyling project begun in recent months in the no. 8 basin of the Naval Shipyard in Marseille, which is a 100% owned subsidiary of San Giorgio del Porto.

The job order therefore bears witness to the operational synergies between the Genoese facilities and Marseille, which can serve a market segment (ships over 270 metres in length) now forbidden in Genoa because of the structural characteristics of the existing basins. The construction work that is under way involves about 20 companies from the field of naval repairs and calls for maximum of around 200 workers committed to working on board every day.
