Actress Shu Qi is known for having a healthy outlook about ageing.

In the past, the Hong Kong-Taiwanese beauty shared photos of her greying hair and referred to it as a sign of “great wisdom”.

Even though she's accepted ageing as “part and parcel of life”, the 46-year-old admitted in a recent interview with Elle Taiwan that she does get a little affected when she sees other people “who still look to be in great condition”.

The Transporter star further added that she’s “lazy” and is “someone who loves to eat”. However, she's somewhat disciplined not to overindulge and in making sure her weighing scale doesn’t show an increase of more than 5kg.

The level-headed actress reasoned: “There will always be people in the world who are more beautiful, better at taking care of their looks, and more disciplined! I am not really bothered by the criticism every time I make an appearance.”

What Shu Qi is more concerned about is her skin allergy.

Apparently, she’s had this condition for some years now, and if it flares up – which gets worse at night – she would not be able to sleep at all. Like the time she was filming in China during the summer, where she had to ready herself with allergy medicine and other remedies to relieve the symptoms.

The model-actress says she is able to withstand the pain during these allergic reactions, but she’s unable to do anything when her face swells up and she can’t perform for the camera.

“For someone who has very high expectations when it comes to acting, I would be very angry with myself,” explained the star who is married to Hong Kong actor-director Stephen Fung.

Due to her condition, Shu Qi had to cut down on her workload to allow her body to rest.

According to her, she's hopeful about going back to work now.

“It’s said that the cells in human bodies will regenerate every seven years, right? I think (I) might be better now!” she stated.
