The famous (or infamous) Lindsay Lohan will once again be gracing our screens. No, she's not reprising her role as Cady Heron in a Mean Girls sequel (one can dream), but instead starring in an upcoming Netflix holiday movie.

According to the streamer, Lohan will lead "a new romantic comedy about a newly engaged and spoiled hotel heiress who finds herself in the care of a handsome, blue-collar lodge owner and his precocious daughter after getting total amnesia in a skiing accident."

Lohan, who rose to fame as a child actor, has by and large forgone acting for years. In the 2010s, personal issues and substance abuse required her to withdraw from filming. She's tiptoed into the spotlight more recently, with 2013's The Canyons and the 2019 horror movie Among the Shadows, though she continued to live in Europe and Dubai. Also in 2019, Lohan starred in her own MTV reality show, Lindsay Lohan's Beach Club.

On CNN’s New Year’s Eve special in 2019, Lohan told hosts Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen that she wanted to “come back to America and start filming again,” and “taking back the life that I worked so hard for, and sharing it with my family and you guys.”

This new holiday movie will join Netflix's large slate of Christmas films including The Princess Switch and its sequel, starring Vanessa Hudgens, Jingle Jangle, and A Christmas Prince trilogy, among countless other options.

The rest of the cast has not yet been announced, nor has an air date. According to Variety, though, the movie is not set to start shooting until November 2021, so we shouldn't expect a Christmas 2021 release. Janeen Damian (of Hallmark Channel’s “A Christmas Waltz”) will direct, and Damian, Michael Damian, Jeff Bonnett, and Ron Oliver penned the script.
