Charlotte Church was left in stitches as she listened to an interview from 1999. The Welsh singer, whose musical break came at the age of 11 when she sang Andrew Lloyd Webber's Pie Jesu over the telephone on This Morning in 1997, sat down with Scott Mills on BBC Radio 2 to take on the Same Interview Challenge.

Presenter Scott revealed he was going to ask Charlotte a question, before playing her back the exact answer she had given in 1999, when she would have been just 13 years old. The interview would have been following Charlotte's first album, Voice of an Angel in 1998, and around the time of her self-titled second album.

Scott asked Charlotte: "What kind of life are you having right now?" The 38-year-old replied: "I mean, right now, I am having a life that is deeply embedded in nature and music and healing."

He asked: "Shall we hear what you said in 1999?" Scott then said again: "Charlotte, what kind of life are you having right now?"

A recording then played, where a young Charlotte could be heard saying: "You know, I get free clothes, which is every girl's dream. But most of my friends are just starting to go out on dates and focusing on their studies a little bit. I get to meet loads of famous people and stuff."

Cracking up laughing, Charlotte put her hand on her chest and said of her younger self: "Oh, that's so cute."

Scott then asked Charlotte who the pop stars of the day were that she was meeting back then. The singer told him: "I mean, so many people. I was meeting massive politicians, business people, you know, presidents, popes. I was going to the Grammys, I was going to the Oscars, Tom Cruise.

"We literally met everybody who was a big star at that time. Barbra Streisand, I had dinner with Barbra Streisand and my mother made me sing to her acapella, one of her own songs she made me sing Don't Rain on My Parade, to Barbra Streisand, it was extreme."
