MT. MORRIS, Mich. (WNEM) – Two Mt. Morris Township firefighters were hospitalized, and three others were injured, after being involved in a crash while responding to an injury crash on I-75 on Wednesday morning.

According to a Facebook post made by the Grand Blanc City Fire Department on Wednesday, March 20, five Mt. Morris Township firefighters were involved in the rollover crash.

Fire Chief Scott Hillerman said the crash occurred at about 7:30 a.m.

TV5 cameras caught footage of the crash on W. Mt. Morris Road and I-75.

A car was trying to merge in front of the fire truck, and it lost control, which caused the truck to hit the car. The fire truck then hit a median wall and rolled over, Hillerman said.

“Sending prayers to our fellow firefighters from Mt. Morris,” the Facebook post read.

Mundy Township Fire Department said in a Facebook post it is also keeping the firefighters in its thoughts and prayers.

Hillerman said three of the firefighters suffered minor injuries and were sent home after being evaluated, but as of 6 p.m., two remained in the hospital with more serious injuries and were undergoing treatment.

At about 9 p.m., Hillerman said one firefighter’s injury was more severe, but all of them are expected to be OK.

The fire chief said the driver of the car was given a ticket and was released. TV5 has not received word on whether the driver of the car sustained any injuries.

Hillerman said the fire truck involved in the incident was totaled.
