(UPDATE: Nov. 1, 2022, 4:15 p.m.): Mike Hoffman, Hurricane Fire Department Chief, says one of their trucks was traveling south on Hurricane Creek Road while a small white car was driving north on the road.

The driver of the white car went over the center line, and the driver of the fire truck swerved to miss the car. Chief Hoffman says that when the firetruck driver did this, the asphalt gave way, and the vehicle crashed into a ditch.

According to Chief Hoffman, the firefighter was alone in the truck and was taken to Cabell-Huntington Hospital to be examined. Hoffman says the firefighter was alert at the scene.
