Burj Khalifa in Dubai is the 8th best-loved landmark in the world, with 16,730,000 annual visitors, according to travel experts at global luggage storage app Bounce.

Burj Khalifa is estimated to generate the largest income from ticket sales. With annual visitor numbers close to 17 million and an average entry fee of $37, the Burj Khalifa will generate around $621 million each year from ticket sales alone.

Built for a total cost of a whopping $1.5 billion, the Burj Khalifa is the tallest building in the world. Standing at an impressive 828 meters, it is larger than the second tallest building in the world by almost 150 meters.

Bounce analysed the world’s landmarks on a variety of factors including annual visitor numbers, entry prices, Tripadvisor ratings, and Instagram posts, to reveal the world’s most loved landmarks.

The best-loved landmark in the world is Niagara Falls. Free to visit, Niagara Falls sees just under 12 million visitors a year and it has a perfect 5/5 rating on Tripadvisor, as well as over 3 million Instagram posts. The landmark sits on the border between Canada and the United States and offers some of the most breathtaking views of natural waterfalls in the world.

The second most loved landmark in the world is the Taj Mahal in India. Over 6.5 million people visit the Taj Mahal each year, and this landmark saw a whopping 23 million searches on Google over the last 12 months. It is a symbol of India’s rich history and a world-renowned heritage site. Visitors from all over the globe come to visit the landmark.

In third place is the Grand Canyon. An Instagram favourite, the Grand Canyon has appeared in over 4 million Instagram posts to date. Over 6 million people visit it each year and almost 15 million search for it on Google. The 277-mile-deep canyon reveals layered bands of red rock and millions of years of geological history.
