John Goodman wowed fans with his svelte appearance at the Monte Carlo TV Festival on Sunday as he showed off the results of his 200-pound weight loss.

The actor, 70, is thought to have achieved the feat without the help of gastric bypass surgery. 

The Roseanne star began his weight-loss journey more than 15 years ago.

And, although his weight has yoyo-ed since then, the overall results now speak for themselves.

When did John Goodman start his weight-loss journey?

Goodman, who stands at 6ft2in, first began losing weight in 2007 and his first major step was his giving up alcohol. 

He later admitted that when the scales began approaching 400 pounds, it provided motivation for him to double down on his efforts.

And, by 2015, the on-screen star had shaved off an impressive 100 pounds.

How did John Goodman lose weight?

Goodman began working with celebrity health coach Mackie Shilstone, who helped put him on the right track.

Shilstone, whose has also previously counted Serena Williams among his famous clientele, had Goodman start on a Mediterranean diet, which emphasizes fish, nuts and olive oil along with fruit and vegetables. 

As for his exercise regimen, Goodman began hitting the gym six days per week, with his workouts centering on the elliptical bicycle or the treadmill.

Beyond the gym, he also became committed to walking between 10,000 and 12,000 steps per day.

'This didn't happen overnight — it's been an ongoing process,' Shilstone told The New York Post in 2015. 

'There needs to be strategic planning,' the trainer continued.

Goodman told People in 2010 of his weight loss efforts: 'I know it sounds sappy, but it was a waste… It takes a lot of creative energy to sit on your ass and figure out what you're going to eat next.'

'I wanted to live life better,' he added.

There have been no reports that Goodman achieved his weight loss with the help of gastric bypass surgery - and instead achieved his new physique with exercise and dieting alone.
