Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves spoilers follow.

Dungeons & Dragons 2 has yet to be confirmed by Paramount and eOne, but if the first movie can follow up its strong reviews with a decent box-office haul, a return trip to the Forgotten Realms may be in the cards.

Honour Among Thieves is largely a self-contained story, so there's no obvious sequel setup, even in the brilliant mid-credit scene. However, writing-directing duo Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley are keen on another campaign.

"If we're lucky enough to make another one, then I think there's so many places to go. We've created these great characters who we would love to see where they are in a year or two," Goldstein told ComicBook.com.

Let's hope they roll a nat 20 and get their chance. In the meantime, though, join us as we dive into everything you need to know about a potential Dungeons & Dragons 2.

Dungeons & Dragons 2 potential release date: When can we expect Dungeons and Dragons sequel?

Dungeons & Dragons 2 has yet to be confirmed, so we don't currently have an official release date for the sequel.

The first movie was filmed from April to August 2021. After a few shifts in release date, it was released on March 31, 2023. If a sequel is confirmed and enters production later this year or in early 2024, we could expect it in early 2025.

This is all speculation for now, though, as we wait to see whether Paramount and eOne announce the second movie.

Dungeons and Dragons ending: How does first movie set up Dungeons & Dragons 2?

The first movie doesn't leave any major plot points left dangling that would immediately set up Dungeons & Dragons 2.

Edgin (Chris Pine) and his unlikely band of adventurers manage to best both Forge (Hugh Grant) and the Red Wizard Sofina (Daisy Head), as well as save the citizens of Neverwinter from Sofina's attempt to turn them all into zombie slaves.

Forge is sent to prison, Edgin reunites with his daughter Kira (Chloe Coleman) and Holga (Michelle Rodriguez) is brought back to life after being fatally wounded in the final battle with Sofina.

Edgin, Holga, Simon (Justice Smith) and Doric (Sophia Lillis) are all named heroes of the realm by the restored Lord of Neverwinter, and all is well in the Forgotten Realms.

A sequel would likely have to start from scratch to tell a new campaign with this ragtag bunch of heroes — although we wouldn't rule out a return from Forge to get his revenge against his former allies (who he also turned against, in fairness).

Beyond the films, there's an eight-episode Dungeons & Dragons series confirmed for Paramount+. It's unclear how this will link (if at all) to the movies, but we wouldn't be surprised to see it set in the same universe.

Dungeons & Dragons 2 cast: Who's coming back for Dungeons and Dragons sequel?

Given that Dungeons & Dragons 2 has yet to be confirmed, we don't have any official cast returns, but we can make some guesses.

We'd be surprised if the central group didn't return — so that's Chris Pine as Edgin, Michelle Rodriguez as Holga, Justice Smith as Simon and Sophia Lillis as Doric. It would also seem strange not to see Chloe Coleman as Edgin's daughter Kira.

Even though he largely played a supporting role in the first movie, we'd expect to see more of Regé-Jean Page's super serious paladin Xenk. Meanwhile, Hugh Grant should also return as the dastardly Forge.

It's unlikely that Daisy Head or Jason Wong will return as Red Wizards Sofina and Dralas, respectively. That said, Red Wizards are notoriously difficult to kill, so we can't entirely rule out them causing more trouble in the sequel.

Dungeons & Dragons 2 trailer: Any Dungeons and Dragons sequel footage yet?

Sadly not. You can be the best sorcerer in the realm and you won't get any footage of Dungeons & Dragons 2, given that it hasn't been confirmed or started filming.

Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves is out now in cinemas.
