Olympics - Vancouver 2010
After all this time of being a depressed lump, I finally feel excited about something - the winter Olympics! It's so wonderful to cheer for your own country. Whenever you see your country on the podium and get to sing the national anthem, your heart just can't help but soar. I love seeing all the athletes compete, regardless of their nation since everyone is so talented at what they do. I never knew I'd like watching Olympic moguls, boarder cross, and speed skating as much as I do. As a kid, I watched the Olympics for hockey, but I never really got into it until this year (probably because my reading break fell right on the first week of the Olympics).
I've been watching the Olympics every day since the opening ceremonies (missed it because of work. Still haven't had the chance to finish watching it.) in-between moving the house around for recarpeting. What a freakin' mess it's been. T_T But anyways, I am so excited at how well Canada has been doing so far. Finally, gold medals on Canadian soil! I've bought myself a set of red mittens and wear them whenever cheering for Canada, and wear my Olympic red SportChek uniform at work. I really wanted to get that red and black plaid patterned scarf from The Bay but they all sold out. ;___; Ohh well.
About the Piece
If you don't know who these guys are, they are the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Mascots rendered into my style. =] I was highly inspired to make this after seeing this piece:

There were definitely some very, very frustrating parts for me while working on the piece. The sketch went by without a problem, but when colouring, Sumi's wings were giving me some issues to get them to look right, and same with Quatchi's fur. Otherwise, I'm very happy with how it has turned out.
I hope you like it, and good luck to your country in the winter Olympics!
