Help support the Muslim Student Association at UC San Diego!

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

The Muslim Student Association at UCSD strives to facilitate character building, humanitarian work, and social justice through educational and social avenues founded on Islamic standards of personal conduct and community. Since 1986, MSA at UCSD has been committed to maintaining an inclusive environment, uniting with allies, and retaining members in order to nurture a diverse generation of Muslims who are cognizant and pragmatic members of society.

MSA at UC San Diego: What We Do

Islam Awareness Week

Hosted each winter as an on-campus annual event, IAW serves to welcome the UCSD community to events that engage participants in learning about our faith, understanding the Muslim experience, and embracing our place in the community. In the past, this week has thrived on Dawah from students, as well as compelling presentations by high profile guest speakers, such as Dalia Mogahed and Dawud Walid.

Justice In Palestine Week

MSA at UCSD wraps up each year with Justice in Palestine Week during Spring Quarter. This week is dedicated to informing members of our community on the history of the Israeli occupation of Palestinian land, understanding the intersectional struggles that affect the Palestinian experience, and how the international community is responding to such injustices through activism and boycotts. In collaboration with Students for Justice in Palestine, MSA students work to display a 100 ft mock apartheid wall built by students with information and artwork to illustrate the impact of the occupation on the community and the loss of life caused by war crimes against Palestinian civilians.

College Day

Each Fall quarter, MSA at UCSD welcomes Muslim students from San Diego high schools for an all-day event. College Day is filled with group activities, entertainment, and workshops on the college application process, financial aid, and the many academic programs offered at UCSD. Our ultimate goal with College Day is to familiarize college-bound students with life skills to balance spiritual development and working toward a career that sustains Islamic standards of involvement in the community.

Social Events

To maintain a cohesive community, MSA holds regular events for students to connect in environments that promote Islamically guided personal development in conjunction with social involvement. Past events have included general body meetings, bonfires, barbecues, brunch socials, Fajr at the beach, Eid banquets, and our annual graduation banquet.

Student Resources

Executive Board works to support students with resources that make Islamic lifestyles convenient for them while they work toward their futures. Resources include on-campus prayer rooms, Jummah prayers, interactive halaqas, and an alumni network for graduates seeking jobs. Our students also enjoy the privilege of weekly Islamic Studies sessions led by Imam Taha Hassane from the Islamic Center of San Diego, as well as office hours with our own registered Chaplain Asim Billoo.

Protests and Solidarity

Why Should You Donate?

As a nonprofit student organization, we rely heavily on funding from campus organizations and fundraisers. All funds support services from room reservations and catering to guest speakers at our campus events. While we have been successful in allocating funds for our projects, campus resources are limited and our organization would benefit immensely from independent donations.

Our Goals:

-Advance and retain the Muslim presence in the academic sphere

-Maintain a climate conducive to harmonizing Islamically advised lifestyles with the lives of Muslims in the university and workforce

-Serve as a center of social, educational, and tangible resources

-Strengthen members to embrace Islamic values as a source of guidance in their goals to contribute to the well-being of the public

-Empower students to attain spiritual fulfillment as individuals
