In every respect, the homologation special was an evolution of the 16-valve model that had been introduced early in 1989. Accordingly, it was dubbed the Evoluzione or simply Evo version of the HF Integrale.

Carried over from its predecessor was the turbocharged 16-valve engine, which was now good for an additional 10 horsepower. Mated to a five-speed gearbox, its 210 bhp were sent to all four wheels. Torque remained unchanged but its maximum figure was achieved at slightly high revs.

More work was carried out on the suspension, which was further strengthened and widened. This was crucial for the Group A rally cars for which the Evo served as a homologation model. The front suspension featured a new strut brace. Larger diameter brakes were also fitted with two-piston callipers at the front.

To accommodate for the wide suspension and track, the wheel arch flares were also increased in size. Whereas the previous ones were welded on, the Evo flares now formed part of the pressed fenders. The new Delta HF Integrale also sported revised front and rear bumpers, a new engine cover and slightly smaller diameter headlights.

Produced in 1991 and 1992, the HF Integrale Evo run included several special edition models. Among them was the Martini 6, which marked the six consecutive World Rally Championship won by the Martini liveried Delta. The sixth and final one had been scored in 1992 by the Group A version of the Evo.

In June of 1993, the final Delta HF Integrale was introduced. Unlike its predecessors, this did not serve to homologate a Group A rally car as Lancia had withdrawn from the sport.
